Obituary for Ronald Wallace Jones, Sr.

Ronald “Ronnie” Wallace Jones Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and community leader,

entered into heavenly rest peacefully on October 20, 2025, in Ocala, Florida. Born into this earthly realm

on July, 14, 1951, in Ocala, to the late Florence Williams Ray and Jack Stonewall Jones. He was lovingly

remembered as the grandson of the late Lawrence Wellington Williams Sr. and Laura Williams.

A true sports enthusiast, Ronnie not only enjoyed playing football, baseball and reeling in a load of fish, he

truly loved watching almost every sport. He and his beloved wife and traveling partner, Johnnie, trekked

faithfully to every home football game of their Florida State Seminoles. His enthusiasm and loyalty were

unmatched.

While in high school, Ronnie met his forever sweetheart, the incomparable Johnnie Mae Wade Jones.

After sharing nearly 50 years of marriage, his beloved wife was called home earlier this year on February

23, 2025. Their love was a testament of faith, partnership, and enduring devotion.

A God-fearing man, Ronnie held a steadfast belief in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His faith guided

his actions and inspired his service to others. After more than 30 years of dedicated work with Marion

Service & Roofing, Ronnie retired and shifted his focus to uplifting the next generation. He co-founded

Men Working to Better the Community with his trusted friend, David Woodbury. Through his activism with

Men Working to Better the Community, he mentored youth and assisted with furthering their education

through scholarships and back to school events, provided assistance to the elderly, fed the community, and

championed positive change.

Ronnie leaves behind a legacy of love and leadership through his three children: Ronald Wallace Jones Jr.

(Cynthia), Rashad Stonewall Jones, and Rosalyn Florence Moore (Melody); sixteen grandchildren: Justin

Williams, Jasmine Jones, Ronald Jones III, Derek-Philip Moore Jr., Andre’ Jones, Rome-Philip Moore,

Gregory Griffin III, Miami Moore, Genaria Griffin, Daniel- Philip Moore, Derek-Philip Moore III, Gyi

Griffin, Prince-Philip Moore, Symphonie- Rose Moore, Aidan Jones, and A’marie Johnnie Jones; two greatgrandchildren: Jaci Hudson and Jacobi Hudson.

He is also survived by three siblings: Tracy Blocker, Aundre’ Blocker, and Delbrie Williams Barnes

(Dennis); his cherished in-laws: Lula Wade Richardson (Samuel), Johnny Wade Jr. (Yuchevia), and Earlene

Wade Hill; nieces: Adina Blocker, Tiana Lunsford (Ronald), Andrea Fulford (Jordan), Alicia Blocker,

Nikita Carry (Lamar), Neema Richardson, and Katrina Wade; Donvae Barnes, Jamaal Blocker, and Devon

Wade. Ronnie was preceded in death by his nephew Darwin Ameed Barnes.

Ronnie’s life was a beacon of faith, family and dedicated service. He will be deeply missed and forever

remembered.

Ronnie attended school in Marion County and graduated from The Howard High School and was a proud

member of the Class of 1969. He let his athletic and academic talents shine as he pursued higher education

at both the University of Washington-Seattle and Howard University. His thirst for knowledge and

commitment to growth were evident throughout his life.
