Obituary for Mother Cora Lee Kelly
On July 5, 2022, Cora Kelly went home
to be with the Lord at the age of 97.
She was born in Webster, Florida,
on December 23, 1924. She was the only daughter of the
late Ed Green (Effie).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, Albert Kelly, her daughter, Gail Kelly, and two
sons, Ralph Kelly and Mack Kelly. She attended Mills High
and was the valedictorian of her class. She was a member
of the Women’s Progressive Club and a loyal member of
Mt. Pisgah African Methodist Episcopal Church.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories: children,
Albertine Pickett (Eugene) of Rochester, NY, Joyce Kelly
of Alexander, VA, Maxie Sallie (Jessie) of Bushnell, FL,
Corrine Bradshaw of Webster, FL, Yolanda Lee (Kermitt)
of Margate, FL; one daughter-in-law, Daisy Kelly; fifteen
grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren;
goddaughter; and two people she loved as her own daughters,
Regina Duggs and Willie Mae Godfrey.
There are three steps to Heaven: out of self, into Christ, and
into Glory. Cora took these first two steps in life and lived
a beautiful life in Christ. Now she has taken the third step,
where there is no more weeping, no pain, no sorrow, and no
disappointment. We know she is satisfied now, and that she
is reaping her great reward reserved for the faithful. Her
enthusiasm for her religion and her willingness to pay the
price and to do her best for her Lord was her life purpose.
It made her a radiant and happy Christian. She now has
fulfilled that purpose, and her family and friends, though
they may weep awhile, should rejoice with Him, and thank
our heavenly Father for the life she lived among us, and
for taking her to the land of Glory, as He has promised.
