Obituary for Mamie Brooks Rowell
Mamie Brooks Rowell was born on September 4, 1920 to Rev. William and Isabelle Harnete Harris in Richland, Florida.  She was the seventh of eight children.  She received her formal education through the Pasco County School System.  Mamie was united in holy matrimony to Samuel Brooks on August 15, 1936.  To this union two children were born.  Charlie Brooks and Lillie Ruth Fairfax Byrd.  Mamie and her husband lived in Coleman. Florida and later moved to Leesburg, Florida.  In 1961, they moved to 2117 Woodland Boulevard, and she resided there for more than 50 years.  Mamie worked at Florida Nursery and Talley Box Company before becoming a homemaker.  In her leisure, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and going to church.  Sister Rowell enjoyed helping others and spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She is well known for delicious cakes and frozen cups.  Mamie was converted at an early age and became a member of Mt. Olive Progressive Baptist Church.  She later joined Church of God by Faith, and served as faithful member who truly loved the Lord.  Sister Rowell served for many years until she became ill and unable to attend.  After the passing of her husband, she later married Deacon Western Rowell.  To this union, she gained a stepdaughter, Ollie Mae Fields.  Sister Rowell's health started failing her but she fought a good fight all the way until the end.  She was fortunate to have loving family who stayed by her side providing the love and care that she deserved.  God called her to her heavenly home on July 24, 2012.  Mamie Rowell was truly blessed.  She lived to be 91 years old.  She was preceded in death by her father, Rev.
