Lawrence “Larry” Dove passed away suddenly on Monday, November
18, 2024, at the age or 67. He was born on August 28, 1957, in
Hempstead, New York and grew up in Tampa, Florida where he
graduated from Hillsborough High School. Larry continued his
education at College of the Sequoias where he graduated with a degree
in Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) Technology.
Larry was a dedicated Navy man and proudly served his country.
He served in the United States Navy, where he retired at the rank
of E-6. He then began work with the United States Department of
Defense and was there until he retired in 2015. In 2014, he used his
skills as a trainer and mentor to young people at Kings County Sea
Cadets in Lemoore, California as an Ensign. The Sea Cadets is the
Navy’s premier youth development program where young people
are instilled with the understanding that “Greatness Has No Age”.
While In Lemoore, California Larry also served with the “Citizens
On Patrol” until he relocated to Leesburg, Florida and began working
with the Clermont.Sea Cadet Battalion in 2017. He also joined the
Leesburg Police Department’s “Citizens On Patrol”.
Larry and his much beloved wife of 42 years; Cynthia Taylor Dove,
loved to travel in their RV. They would video their adventures and
their fun. They connected with the “Class A Rollers” RV group and
enjoyed being a part of this organization.
Larry was also a very creative person. A friend in California
introduced him to woodworking and fabricating beautiful
custom-made ink pens. You may even have one!
Larry was baptized at an early age in Tampa, Florida and later
joined Mt. Calvary Missionary Church in Leesburg, Florida. He
was preceded in death by his father James Dove, Sr., his mother
Rosa Mary Dove, and his brother, Frankie Dove. Sweet memories
will live on in the hearts of his wife Cynthia, his daughters Lisa
(Tyrone) Pitts and Karen (Robert) Scott, his grandsons Richard
Pitts, Roland (Gloria) Pitts, Jeremy Pitts, and Cameron Scott
In addition, he is survived by his granddaughter Mariah Scott;
great•granddaughter Amiyah Pitts and great-grandson Jayden.
Pitts. Larry will be fondly remembered by his siblings Jewel Moore,
James (Spring) Dove, Jr., Gary (Veronica) Dove, Denise (Hilbert)
Cue, and Vincent Dove. He also leaves behind many other relatives
and friends.
