Johnnie Mae Jones was born in Albany, Georgia, on May 18, 1954, to the late Johnny Wade Sr. and Ola Mae Wade. Upon the transition of her parents, she moved to Ocala, Florida, where she was raised by her grandmother, the late Annie Mae Wade.
Johnnie Mae attended school in Marion County and graduated from Forest High School. She was a proud member of the Class of 1972. She married her high school sweetheart, “Ronnie”, and had an illustrious career in food service. She feed the youth of Marion County as the Cafeteria Manager of Dr. N. H. Jones Elementary School and Madison Street Academy. She retired from Marion County Public Schools after over 35 years of dedicated service.
Johnnie Mae dedicated her life to Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she held her own tune in the choir, praise danced, ushered, and lead the kitchen ministry like no other.
Johnnie Mae enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved a nice cruise, a slot machine at a casino, tearing up the dance floor at class reunions, and hitting the road with her husband to cheer for the Florida State Seminoles. Johnnie Mae went above and beyond to care for others. To carry on her legacy is her loving husband Ronald Wallace Jones Sr., their three children: Ronald Wallace Jones Jr. (Cynthia Jones), Rashad Stonewall Jones, and Rosalyn Florence Moore (Melody Moore); fifteen grandchildren: Jasmine Jones, Ronald Jones III, Derek-Philip Moore Jr., Andre’ Jones, Rome-Philip Moore, Gregory Griffin III, Miami Moore, Genaria Griffin, Daniel-Philip Moore, Derek-Philip Moore III, Gyi Griffin, Prince-Philip Moore, Symphonie-Rose Moore, Aidan Jones, and A’marie Johnnie Jones; two great-grandchildren: Jaci Hudson and Jacobi Hudson; one god-daughter: Sharington Houston; three siblings: Johnny Wade Jr. (Yuchevia Wade),Lula Richardson (Samuel Richardson), and Earlene Wade Hill; loving in-laws: Delbrie Williams Barnes (Dennis Barnes), Aundre Blocker, and Tracy Blocker; special nieces: Nikita Carry (Lamar Carry) and Neema Richardson; host of other sorrowing family and friends.
Johnnie Mae Jones was a caring being that fed us physically, warmed our souls with joy and laughter, and left a forever imprint on our hearts!
