Obituary for James Levon Roundtree
James Levon Roundtree, son of the late William and Lula Boston Roundtree, was born January 4, 1935 in Leesburg, FL. While in his youthful years, Levon affectionately called "Tree" grew up in a christian home with his grandparents, Deacon Matthew and Laura Boston. He was converted, baptized, and fellowshipped with the Nt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church. In later years on many occasions he visited Mt. Ararat Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. Levon was married and to this union one daughter was born. He later married Helen Burton and to this union one child was born. Levon graduated from Lake County Training School in 1953, where he was very popular and well known as a great football player and all around athlete. He attended Bethune Cookman College but soon opted to join the United States Army. He served his country on two different enlistment. He was employed with the United States Postal Services in Philadelphia, PA, and later transferred to Orlando, FL. Levon’s journey ended from this life on December 7, 2012. He leaves precious memories: two daughters, Gwildon Haynes, Orlando, FL, and Debra Roundtree, Miami, FL; brother, William (Doris) Roundtree, Tacoma, WA; stepmother, Johnnie Mae Roundtree, Miami, FL; one aunt, Glady Davis, Los Angeles, CA; 8 grandchildren, Charlotte (Darrell) Wright, Brandywine, MD, Ronnie (Lynette) Thomas II, St. Petersburg, FL, Ebony Haynes, Orlando, FL, Jarvis Haynes, Perry, FL, Ernest (Nichola) Gross III, Donnelle (Nicole) Gross, Johnelle Kemp, and Krystal Kemp, all of Miami, FL; 13 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; a host of very special nephews, nieces, cousins, and sorrowing friends. Celebration of Life will be held 11:00A.M., Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, 315 S. East Street, Leesburg, FL, Rev. William Morris, Officiating.  Final Interment with Military Honors will be conducted 2:00P.M., at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
