Obituary for James Carl Gardner
James Carl Gardner was born to the late Hosey Gardner and Julia Chatman on June 22, 1937. He departed this life on Monday, August 17, 2020.
James spent his early childhood in the Lake County Public School system and graduated from Carver Heights High School in 1957. He was a member of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a member of the choir.
He later met and married Edna “Jackie” Dixon in 1977. Shortly thereafter, he moved his membership to Greater Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Wildwood, FL. There he served as the chairman of the deacon board for many years.
James loved his family, his church family, and enjoyed people. He spent most of his days working in his yard.
He leaves behind his loving wife Edna Gardner and 4 children (2 boys, Willie (Toni) Mobley, St. Louis Missouri; Kelvin (Johnnie) Mobley, Wildwood, Florida; 2 daughters, Lawanda (Stanford) Ware, Leesburg, Florida and Voncia (Donnie) Deveau, Oxford, Florida; One sister, Linda Teartt, Leesburg, Florida, and 1 sister-in-law, Gloria Gardner of Winchester, Virginia. He will be missed by 14 grandchildren and 12 great grands and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
