Obituary for Ethel Mae Wilson
Ethel Mae Wilson was born February 19, 1930 to the late Payro and Hattie McClary in Andrews, South Carolina. In Andrews, she met and married the late Troy J. Wilson. In 1958, Troy, Ethel, and their three oldest children moved to Leesburg, Florida. Ethel was employed by Central Florida Nursery for a number of years, and later worked for Aduda & Sons Harvesting of Zellwood, Florida. Being in need of spiritual leadership, Ethel joined Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. R. J. Boone. She attended faithfully until her health began to fail. Ethel became a resident of Avante Health Center but never lost her faith to serve the Lord. Ethel truly enjoyed visits from her family and friends, but especially her grandchildren who would always sing good old gospel songs to her.
On Thursday, December 1, 2011, Ethel being persuaded that GOD had a resting place for her with her ticket already stamped “Ready to Board”, decided to catch the morning train. Ethel will be missed by all who knew her. To her close family she was affectionately called “Momma Cool”. The family knew that Granny did not play, she was a true South Carolina Geechie! “Momma Cool” was preceded in death by three daughters, Henrietta Ible, JoAnn Salmon, and Regina Taylor. She leaves a loving family to mourn and cherish her memories: Daughter, Winnie Hodge (James), Leesburg, FL; Son, Troy Wilson (Deidre), Plainsfield, NJ; Two Sisters, Thomasena Graham, Myrtle Beach, SC; Emma Scott, Eustis, FL; Grandchildren, Dreana, Patricia, Anthony Sr., Edwina, James Jr., Reginald, Troy, Demisha, Terrance, Travant, Jamal, Anthony, Evin, Dion, Cynthia, Margaret, Lizz, Debra, Lenzy Jr., John, and Derek; 34 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; Like a son and daughter, Lenzy Hodge Sr.(Margaret), Leesburg, FL; Brother-in-Law, Johnnie Wilson (Anita), Orlando, FL; two special nephews, James Willie Cuyler, George Tisdale; and a host of nieces, nephews, sorrowing family and friends.
