Obituary for Ellouise Dabney
On January 27, 1925, one of GOD’s greatest gifts, a daughter, was given to Stanley and Lula Harden. Ellouise Eloise Harden was born and raised in Leesburg, FL. She was a loving and loved child.
Her Christian journey began with her baptism at Mt. Erie Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. S. R. Rembert. Later, the late Rev. H. P. James became the pastor and renamed the church, Mt. Ararat Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. She was very faithful and served as Directress of the Youth department for 27 years.
As a young child, Ellouise attended Lake County Training School where she was an honor student. An avid athlete, she excelled in basketball and track. Upon graduation, she attended Florida A & M College in Tallahassee, FL. While there she realized she was in love with Wilbur E. Dabney, they later married and became the proud parents of eight children, all alive and well. After the children were school age, Ellouise was employed as a Cafeteria Manager at Carver Heights High School. When Carver closed, she became a Senior Citizen Directress in Okahumpka, FL, until retiring. Ellouise was a giving and compassionate person who lived a fruitful and productive life. She was the first chairperson for the LCTS/CHHS reunion (1986); member of the Order of Eastern Star; I. B. P. O. E. Land of Lakes; member of Lake County Cafeteria Managers Association, and Motivational Speaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one grandchild. She leaves to mourn and cherish everlasting memories: 5 Daughters, Lottie D. Glover, Ft. Myers, FL; Dottie D Wilson (Allan), Miami, FL; Shirley D. Butler (Louis), Suitland, MD; Louise Dabney, Tampa, FL; Antoinette D.
