Obituary for Dayle Iris Shelton

It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Dayle Iris Shelton,

announce her passing on Sunday, February 15, 2025.

Iris was born on September 18, 1953, in Leesburg, Florida. Iris

was the beloved daughter of James (deceased) and Ida (deceased)

Morgan of Leesburg, Florida.

Affectionately known as “Fruity,” to most, Iris was a native and

resident of Leesburg, Florida. She graduated from Leesburg High

School in 1971. Iris’ began her career in earlier years at General

Electric Company, she then worked at AT&T for over twenty years,

and finally, she worked for FEMA until health issues prevented her

from doing so.

Iris’ humorous and energetic personality lit up any room she

entered. Prior to her illness, she enjoyed spending quality time with

her family and friends, her creativity led her to become a certified

floral designer.

Iris truly knew that it was more a blessing to give than to receive,

which led her to study the Bible. In 1983, she became a dedicated,

baptized Jehovah’s Witness. She faithfully volunteered her time

to have a full share in the ministry work, alongside her husband,

Thurman.

Iris is survived by, devoted husband, Thurman Shelton; three

children, Adrienne Hart-Bryant, Anthony Hart, and Brandon

Hart. She will be forever cherished and remembered by her two

grandchildren, Kayla J. Barker and Samari L. Bryant, eight

stepchildren; siblings, (honorary) Catherine “Kitty” Williams,

Cathrine “Shug” Lynum, Harry P. Edwards, and Audrey

Lamar; devoted family members, Joyce Chapman, Dana Niblack

(Tavian, Anthony “AJ,” Alani, Jaccari), Evelyn Chapman, and

Carl Chapman; and a host of nieces, nephews, dear friends, and

spiritual family; the family wishes to acknowledge: Delores Bisby

(Jack), and affectionately known as a daughter, Kara Bisby-West

(Timothy); lifelong friends and close spiritual sisters, Marvine

Roan, Denise Dixon, Carol Brown, Toni Coleman, Ann Johnson,

Barbara Gardner, Fredrica Mack, Mary Tanker, Diane Carter, and

many more.

Iris’ passing is truly a deep and personal loss to many, and she will

be deeply missed by all.
