Obituary for Beatrice Mosley
Born to the late Mr. Thelman and Laura Lawyer-Robinson On May 9, 1935 in Havana, FL, Beatrice was the first born of three daughters. She became known as “Smithie Bea” given this name by her father, with the “love of everyone close to her she would answer to “Smithie” or “Bea” along with “Aunt Bea, Mrs. Bea and of course Sister Beatrice Mosley”
She moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL and then relocated to Newark, NJ in 1947, where she attended South Eight Street and Robert Treat Elementary Schools. She became a member of the “track team” and was also rewarded for beautiful handwriting along with winning “trophies” for bowling.
She attended Westside High School in Newark, NJ and became interested in cosmetology. She was employed as a beautician at the Elegance Coiffure Salon in South Orange, NJ. Beatrice later became employed as a Financial Advisor for stocks and bonds at National Westminster Bank in Jersey City, NJ where she met her husband Mr. Willie Mosley.
She was the mother of three children, Linda being Beatrice's only daughter, shared the joy of being born on her mother’s and grandmother’s birthday.
In 1982 she became a member of Job Grand Lodge and Bethune Grand Chapter, and a Local Member of Queen Adah #31 in Newark, NJ, she was a life member.
Beatrice and husband Willie relocated to Ocala, FL in 1991. In September of that year, they joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Arthur E. Middleton, Sr., where she served in Finance and as an Usher. She loved and worked faithfully in her church. She also became a member of Sisters Caring and Sharing, Inc. which she loved dearly.
God sent for His Angel on Monday, April 30, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband Willie, sons Donald and Robert and her sister Loretta.
Left to cherish her memories, one daughter Linda of NJ, six grandsons Rashaun, Dawan, Donald Jr., Damein, Dana and Denzel, one sister, Mrs. Fannie Gallman of Ewing, NJ; one daughter-in-law, Lorease, NJ; 5 stepchildren, Herbert Mosley, Tampa, FL; Morris Mosley, Jersey City, NJ; Eugene (Valerie) Mosley, West Orange, NJ; Harriet Mosley, Tampa, FL; and Annette (Gordon) Williams, Irvington, NJ; one sister-in-law, Clara Mosley, Leesburg, FL; 5 great grandchildren, Stephon, Ausar, Tyquon, Bakhi, and Alaysha, godchildren, David Gallman, Uriah Stevenson and LaRanda Lee, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Public viewing will be held 5-7pm, Friday, May 11, 2012, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 1012 Line Street, Leesburg, Florida. A Celebration of Life will be held at the same location, 11am, Saturday, May 12, 2012.
